The turritopsis dohrnii - also known as the immortal jellyfish - can revert from its adult form back to its polyp stage when old or injured, making it biologically immortal. Something Euronymous was not when confronted by his band mate Varg in August 1993.
Rad as that is, the species also shares its name with one of the Black Metal scene's early pioneers - Immortal - whose corpse paint, evil grimaces and songs about "the realm of all darkness and cold" will ensure that Norwegian churches continue to lock their doors at night!
